| Sun Java JRE 1.5.0 Ed 5.0 Beta 2 Download
FYI, I tried to get Java 1.1.4 and 1.4.2 to work for 10 days and I finally gave up on that old stuff. I read the documentation for JRE 1.5.0 and I decided to give it a try even though it is listed as Beta, it has been out now for quite awhile. I have been using Sun Java JRE 1.5.0 now for 2 weeks with no problems.
Get the latest Sun Java Runtime Environment "JRE 1.5.0" at: »java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/download.jsp
If you don't want to use beta you can get "JRE 1.4.2" at: »www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp
Then after download you can test Java -- Dancing Duke logo: »www.java.com/en/download/help/testvm.jsp
Sun Top Reported JRE Issues »java.com/en/download/faq/top_issues.jsp
Sun Java Help Pages »java.com/en/download/help/index.jsp
Sun Java FAQ Pages »java.com/en/download/faq/index.jsp
Sun Java Email Feedback & Support for Users, It could be 1-2 weeks for a reply from Sun Java Team: »bugs.sun.com/services/bugreport/···gory=csj
If you do all that and your Java still does not work, here is what I had to do to fix my Java. I finally came up with this fix after 10 days of trial and error, not much sleep, much frustration, jumping up and down, many many reboots, watching paint dry on the walls, etc.
=====================================================
SYMPTOM: When going to any web site with Java the browser freezes or closes and sometimes Windows hangs and the PC has to be rebooted.
PROBLEM: Java components are either missing or corrupt and/or your browser is corrupt or missing some necessary java component needed to run Java such as MSJVM if you are using MS IE browser.
SOLUTION: Note: Before doing these steps: clear all temp and cache folders, close all programs running in the background in Windows "Close Program" window except "Explorer" and "Systray". Turn off all Task Scheduler, Virus Scan, Adware Scan, and Spyware Scan programs. It is OK to leave Firewall program running. The commands below may be slightly different depending on the version of Windows or IE that you have.
1 In Windows - Start - Settings - Control Panel - Add Remove Programs, find Microsoft Internet Explorer. Click on it twice, choose "Repair Internet Explorer" click OK. Follow the prompts, reboot the PC.
2 See if you can now download the java that you need or get Java working on your PC. Download any additional java such as MSJVM that you are given the option to download in popup window. »www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp
3 Test your Java at »www.java.com/en/download/help/testvm.jsp If you see "Dancing Duke" waving at you in the test window for Windows you are OK. Go to #13.
4 If your Java is still not working, In Windows - Start - Settings - Control Panel - Add Remove Programs find Microsoft Internet Explorer. Click on it twice, choose "Restore Internet Explorer" click OK. Follow the prompts, reboot the PC.

7 If your Java is still not working, go to »www.microsoft.com/downloads/sear···ylang=en download the latest IE browser, currently IE 6.0, go offline, empty all temp and cache folders, close all programs running in the background in Windows Close program window except "Explorer" and "Systray" install the fresh copy of IE 6.0, following the prompts, removing the previous copy of MS IE is NOT necessary. 10 If your Java is still not working, reboot your PC, go into "Safe Mode" by pressing the "F8" key every 2 seconds during the setup screens and before Windows starts up. Choose Option 3 on the Safe Mode menu for "Safe Mode". Once in Safe Mode, empty all temp and cache folders, reinstall MS IE browser from the new download file, Reboot the PC.
