Over here it is $39.99 but $19.99 for the first 3 months. There are some advantages doing VoIP over cable because the VoIP will be integrated to DOCSIS cable so there will be reserved bandwidth for voice calls (a DOCSIS 1.1 and later feature). When you are using Vonage or other independent service provider DOCSIS 1.1 bandwidth reservation is not used so when your cable or internet is congested your Vonage calls sound terrible. |

I did not know that. Always assumed that VoIP shared bandwidth with everything else. That would make sense paying more for reserved bandwidth. I want the pizza guy to get my order right while ordering pizza. Wrong toppings cause he did not hear me due to packet loss and crappy sound.  |
