 Broadband Constant Reports

Click for full size
I thought I would check in this forum first but if required please re-direct. This problem I noticed just this morning but it goes back quite sometime. Would anyone recognize what could possibly be so interested in me from BBR? Something on my system is trying to access Broadbandreports and every few minutes. I'm not running any type of service that I know of that track performance or connectivity.

Are you doing any line monitoring?

Not consciously. It tries to send through port 3388.

Why don't you unblock it on the firewall and I'll see what it's trying to access in the log.

Sorry about this but I noticed it isn't sending just through one port but a different one each time. I'm not sure how to change access of this program. When the warning pops up I doesn't ask whether to allow or deny but that it tried to access and to just click OK.

Destination port is HTTP.. just the source port is different, that's not unusual.
If you click on 'more info' does it say which process &| application is doing it?

First thing I tried. I keep getting a blank error page. I think their site is down right now. I'm trying to catch it working on the task manager.

Confirmed here as well. Lurking to see if there is an answer to this phenomenon.

Are you having the same problems? Something at BBR?

Update: The task manager does show something but it's explorer.exe that runs for a split second. Nothing I point a finger at yet.

Add me to the list. Mine started on 6/12/04 at 8:15:10 AM (CDT) and has been doing it every 3 minutes since then.

Edit: I'm on Win98SE w/ IE 6 and fully patched.

Add me to the list also.
TCP ack packet attack: Blocked: www.dslreports.com [209.123.109.175] I won't add my whole list, it's long.

It started 6/12/04 at 5:33 am. About every 3 minutes here too. I have noticed in my log several hits from these IP's, one originating from Alaska, the other from the same city list for BBR's web address. Do these look familiar to anyone?
fpcluster.alaska.net [209.112.189.244] and [209.123.205.210]

Mine began 6-13 0857 GMT and have about 20 in my ZA logs. I tried nil See Profile's suggestion but getting an IE page error yet the ZA site seems to be up in other areas. This is only happening on my desktop, not my laptop but both are on the same network. I'm not going to nuke the logs until we get a handle on it.

I just checked my log... me, too! About every 30 sec. or so trying to access port 80!

FWIW- Per ZA's suggestion... I rebooted and it appears to have stopped!

Stoppage was temporary... lasted only a few minutes and then started up again! Sorry 'bout that!

From what I'm seeing, it doesn't do it until you start browsing into dslreports.com. Then, within a couple of minutes, it will start.

Is anybody seeing this that is still on ZA 4.x?

No one has come up with anything?!?

I ran Ad-Aware (updated) and SpyBot S&D... found a couple of things, but even after cleaning... the incessant attempts to reach Broadbandreports continue. Cannot track down what is trying to connect, but it just keeps plugging away going right up the ladder, seemingly trying every port to get out on. Seems to average (from the log) slightly more than about 3 times in two minutes.

This needs to go to the Site Bugs forum, with multiple people reporting it.

Okay, well if anyone can let this attempt through and let me know their IP I can actually do something productive like check the log and see if it's a particular page its trying to access?

What browser is everyone using?

I've got mine open and set to allow. I haven't seen a hit for a couple of hours now though and have been online.
I'm using IE 6.
