Why, they are telling the truth as long as they have control over your service you're going to have problems. With fiber you're just going to have them faster.

Verizon plans to add services. It's not just doing fiber for fun. That was the guy's point. Unless you offer services then fiber is... well, just fiber. If you have a bad ISP then fiber, DSL, Cable, Dial-up, it's still a bad ISP and you will still have problems.
It's like having great highways, remember those?, but no cars. Infrastructure counts only when there are services to use it.
