Re: [wired] BEFSX41 Firmware 1.51.00 - POST YOUR R

Flogator: All:

I just upgraded to the 1.51 firmware. At this time I have no reboots using a Traceroute. Funny thing though is I cannot duplicate the long URL crash. I clicked on each of the links you posted 6 times each for a total of 18 attempts. Logged out and tried again and never got a router reboot.

I do not use any of of the filtering so not sure about those options. My son is a big online gamer, console as well as PC, but he's not up yet. I will have to check gaming play later. Slow page loading is still an issue but it is only the side graphics and doesn't affect page content.

I noticed some of the default items have changed now. Stealthing port 113 is now "on" by default. Not sure but I think block WAN request was "off" by default before but it is "on" now. Also reboots seem to take a little bit longer than before.

My firmware load was as follows:

1. Load Factory defaults
2. Long reset
3. Update via web interface
4. Load Factory defaults
5. Long reset( I may have items 4 and 5 backwards)
6. Started changing settings!

One thing I have set now is all UPnP options are "on" for gameplay.

Oh and if it matters I'm using WinXP/IE6 sp1 and all patches.

UPDATE: After about an hour I went back and tried the long URL's again and on first attempt I got a router reset. After router finished rebooting I tried again and now the long URL's seem to work ok.

What is a "long reset" and how do you perform one?

Nerdtalker:

Long reset is performed by holding reset button in for 30 seconds. I have found in practice that at around 15 to 20 seconds the router seems to reset so don't know the reason for holding a full 30 seconds but that is what Linksys suggests.

also no go... it caused my router to die. I had to flash back to 1.45.7
