I just upgraded to the 1.51 firmware. At this time I have no reboots using a Traceroute. Funny thing though is I cannot duplicate the long URL crash. I clicked on each of the links you posted 6 times each for a total of 18 attempts. Logged out and tried again and never got a router reboot.
I do not use any of of the filtering so not sure about those options. My son is a big online gamer, console as well as PC, but he's not up yet. I will have to check gaming play later. Slow page loading is still an issue but it is only the side graphics and doesn't affect page content.
I noticed some of the default items have changed now. Stealthing port 113 is now "on" by default. Not sure but I think block WAN request was "off" by default before but it is "on" now. Also reboots seem to take a little bit longer than before.
My firmware load was as follows:
1. Load Factory defaults 2. Long reset 3. Update via web interface 4. Load Factory defaults 5. Long reset( I may have items 4 and 5 backwards) 6. Started changing settings!
One thing I have set now is all UPnP options are "on" for gameplay.
Oh and if it matters I'm using WinXP/IE6 sp1 and all patches.
UPDATE: After about an hour I went back and tried the long URL's again and on first attempt I got a router reset. After router finished rebooting I tried again and now the long URL's seem to work ok.

Long reset is performed by holding reset button in for 30 seconds. I have found in practice that at around 15 to 20 seconds the router seems to reset so don't know the reason for holding a full 30 seconds but that is what Linksys suggests.

| It did it to me the first time then after the reset it let me go to the other two long urls. Maybe I can live with this one. I will be mad though if someone in my house goes to a long url while I am playing a playstation game, so maybe I will go back to .47 since I don't really use anything on the newer firmware...

| Re: [wired] BEFSX41 Firmware 1.51.00 - POST YOUR R I probably will. Just looking to keep my madden 2004 0 percent disconnect rating
I am thinking of getting a verizon dsl connection to go with my cable connection an an rv082 to share the two, since my cable connection goes out for 20-30 min after every lightning storm. I here that router has suspect firmware as well, and that is one of the reasons I am holding off...

| Re: [wired] BEFSX41 Firmware 1.51.00 - POST YOUR R I was lucky, I purchased my BEFX41 when firmware .47 was already out, so the problems are new to me...
Then again I got it to begin with because my befsr41 ver 2 was crashing every few hours. I concinved firmware could have fixed this since others are having similar issues with that unit.
I tried a 430 dollar hotbrick but I could not even get my playstation game to route through it. They even had an engineer look at my config remotly...
Maybe I will look at Zyxel if they don't get a fool proof firmware out soon. I have heard that their equipment is very reliable. I used an integrated adsl modem/router by them when I had covad and it never crashed. I had 60 day+ uptimes with it...

I second this. My router didn't reboot using 1.50.18, and it doesn't do it with 1.51. I am not using the "Firewall Protection" feature, if that makes any difference.

| Re: [wired] BEFSX41 Firmware 1.51.00 - POST YOUR R Hi, I decided to sick with 1.50.18, and since I heard that the router reboots/crashes with some URLs do not occurr at the first attempt, I decided to test them hard. I repeatedly check the previous long URL posted by Flogator, and the 3 ones just posted, by using several methods: the plain old single click, "open in new window", shift refresh, cleared cache, all several times (dozens).
I am NOT able to get one single router crash or reset. All URLs always open quickly and flawlessly. My config is completely posted in the other thread about 1.50.18, if anyone needs to check it.

| Re: [wired] BEFSX41 Firmware 1.51.00 - POST YOUR R Hi sir Flogator!
By any chance can you request linksys to add some features for the new firmware? I'm thinking of a router reset that is controlable in the web accesss, this is totally different from the Restore Factory Defaults.
This very useful when your router is far from you. IMHO.
Thanks!

| Re: [wired] BEFSX41 Firmware 1.51.00 - POST YOUR R hananz, I don't think your problem is related to MTU unless you are using any kind of VPN software. Perhaps related to DNS. Since you are using static IP assignment on your LAN side, you must manage yourself the default gateway and DNS server yourself. The default gateway must be the LAN IP address of your BEFSX41. However, the DNS server must the the one supplied to you by your ISP. Using any other DNS server on your PCs could very lead to long delay during host name resolution.
If you have already setup the PC's DNS server to your ISP's DNS server, then I guess we should keep looking. However, if you have assigned any different values, would you mind trying the above and report your findings. In general, you can get the DNS server information provided by your ISP on their web site. However, you can also look at the BEFSX41 "Status" tab in the router's configuration web page and whatever DNS server was acquired by the router could be manually applied on each of your PC. Don't forget to reboot your PC once you change their DNS server.
