| No Ping with ZAP 4.5.594.000 Any Ideas????
1d1h : 2004-04-17 11:32:00 : From fatness block ... delete-this ... keep-this Hi, I got your feedback question.
"feedback text: I am running ZAP as my firewall. I went to your FAQ on becoming pingable, and followed the instructions exactly, but I am still unpingable. What can I do so that I can get pinged from DSLR without shutting ZAP down completely? Thank you."
I suggest posting it in the Site Tools forum: »Site Tools

I sent the above problem to the author of the FAQ for becoming pingable, and he suggested I post here.
Thanks in advance to everyone for your help.

Do you have a router? |

| reply to RipRap Lowering your Internet Security to Medium during any test on this site should allow you to become pingable with any ZoneLabs firewall. If that isn't working then of course there is something needing troubleshot. Do you have a router in the mix? -- Test Your Security Team Z Member Cable Modem Diagnostics |

2 edits | reply to RipRap If all you have blocking ping is the firewall, then you can add the BBR servers to your trusted zone, and leave that slider setting at medium, and leave the Internet Zone on High. It works.;)

| reply to RipRap Find the setup page in your router menu that will allow you to choose Block WAN Request: and disable it. Run the ping tests you want, then when you're finished, re- enable Block WAN Request. -- ~Help find a cure for cancer~Proud Member Team Discovery |

Make Expert Rules to make you pingable at BBR |
I created really tight rules in ZAP, using the Expert Rules tab of the Firewall section, patterned after: BBR Pingable Rule -faq-5265 -- and it works like a charm! These rules make me pingable only at BBR Test Sites, and .. Such rules can be easily switched on and off .. without having to lower my security settings to Medium. But that is a little more work, IM me if you want the details .. otherwise the suggestions about putting BBR Sites in Trusted Zone, or lowering settings to Medium, although less stringent or tight, will work also. -- "But now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love."
