Here is another!! I quit dway back in the day and went to sb. and havent ever regreted it. although recently its been a little bit bumpy. But what can i say, its the first bump ive had with starband. the load balancing thing you know....... they mabe have to much to do and to small a staff.

I've been using SB for about one year now with a 481 telecommuter system.
Before SB gave up 2 of their 5 Ku transponders, over the past 4 months, service was great.
Now it is, in some respects, slower than my back up 26.4 K dial-up account.
I'm waiting for WildBlue to get up and running.

Sorry, l@@ks real to me.

How come I can't find a stitch of sales information about the 480 over at the SB website? What is the history of this modem? Or did they fark-up and the 481 was the fix?

If I remember right the 480 was the original modem for that series and was geared towards SOHO user's. Then came the 481 (for us regular people) which caused the 480 to be changed to 484. Pretty sure the 480 and 484 are the same.

just upgraded to the 484, and am running some tests now. its fast!
