the article says "Webroot also makes a free version of Spy Sweeper, without the live-update capabilities." but i haven't been able to find any reference on the webroot site to a free version. there's a time-limited trial, but that's not the same as a free version you can keep using. i took the article's comment to mean you could update manually, but do they mean you can keep using the trial but never update it even manually? -- graciella! Thats a nice layered wall for the fight against spyware! Sounds almost identical to mine. Never told anyone though because I thought they would think I was going overboard. But, since you did, I did.

Try this link »www.wugnet.com/shareware/spow.asp?ID=514 . I'm not sure if this is the trial or not. Originally, last June or July, this *was* the link for the free version. It may have been a promo that has since expired.
This is a good price though. -- Security Forum FAQs..-..Let the heart be quiet and hear out the mind."..-..Starfire "5 in 4" |

muf9Captain of the axePremium join:2003-01-04 uk | reply to muf9 It looks like Spyware is taking over as the biggest thread, so it's healthy to have many layered defence imo. I have all those apps that Dadkins has plus Bazooka Adware and Spyware Scanner. I take my protection from spyware very seriously!

muf9Captain of the axePremium join:2003-01-04 uk | reply to muf9 Damn, Wish i had seen that link to buy it for $20. I paid the full $30. Having said that, i have used it for three months now, and so far it's been well worth the money.
Also looks like Spy Sweeper is being expanded to accomodate corporation's. »www.webroot.com/wb/products/spys···rise.php

If you are running Spyware blaster on your system, this could very well be the reason. Ever since I installed Spyware Blaster, Ad-Aware only finds an occasional spy cookie from time to time. I remember mentioning spyware blaster in the Lavasoft forum, and they promptly deleted my post. They know that spyware blaster almost makes Ad-Aware not needed!

 | reply to muf9 Does SpySweeper find anything Ad-Aware and Spybot S&D miss? Is this program really worth the money? |

mvduPremium join:2003-07-28 Collegeville, PA kudos:1 | reply to Keizer What I meant was that I don't even see the occasional spy cookie since I installed SpySweeper. |

muf9Captain of the axePremium join:2003-01-04 uk | reply to muf9 Buddel, When i first ran Spy Sweeper, it found things that both Ad-aware and spybot didn't. And ever since i have used Spy Sweeper, Spybot and Ad-aware have not found anything. Although i will continue to use all 3 'just in case'. but Spy Sweeper is now my primary anti-spyware application.
Try it free for 30 days and see what you think.

KeizerI'M Your HuckleberryPremium,MVM join:2003-01-20 1 edit | reply to muf9 WebRoot makes really good products, I may have to give SpySweeper a try as well! I have been running their window washer software for awhile now, and really like it!
Does SpySweeper slow your system at all? It has a real time monitor doesn't it? Does it conflict with Spyware guard?

Did Spy Sweeper generate a log of the items it found that Ad-Aware didn't? I'd be curious to see that log if you've still got it. I'm not convinced that I need 2 or 3 different spyware removers.
