Re: [ DrTCP] Help Please Tweaks

No one asked yet: Since you're using XP, do you have administrator rights or permission to edit the registry?
If not then that's a problem.

You can try and connect with PPPoE w/o the client: »Re: RASPPPOE Setup for AOL . I've never heard anyone say they couldn't change their RWIN after installing AOL yet.

I don't think this is the problem because he can set the value using DrTCP and exit the program and come back to DrTCP again and see the number entered. If he did not have admin rights he could not do this. The number would not stick there as you told. His number is sticking in DrTCP but the RWIN value does not take effect. I very much believe AOL is overriding the global Rwin value with a per-interface value. AOL creates a virtual interface. And tunnels IP in IP. That is why his MTU is also excessively reduced.

I just remembered the AOL ad running on TV these days:

A couple receives yet another AOL CD and they rush to place it in the artwork created from AOL CD's on the wall. Right about this time an old guy walks in (supposedly famous) and warns them that is AOL version 9 "optimized".

Yeah right! (No offence to AOL users!)

Should I try un-installing the AOL software and then setup a connection without the AOL software installed and use DrTCP to change the values.??
