[Equipment] DVR stutters on playback

I am in NYC and have RCN's HD DVR ( Motorola). Sometimes when I play back a recorded program, it stutters or even stops for 10-15 seconds at a time before continuing to play. I'd say this happens with about 50% of recordings. Is their any way to possibly resolve this on my own or do I need exchange the box?

Thank you!

[Equipment] DCX DVR 30 second skip not working 100% smoothly..

we all know that when you hit the play button (twice consecutively) that you get the 30 sec. skip, well i have been having an annoying issue with it for a pretty long time.
if you try and do the skip sequence a couple of times in a row, it pretty much brings you back to the point of where you started from or it barely skips at all. this is going on with all three of my DVR's and i was wondering if there's a fix in motion or if RCN knows about it.

FYI: my DCT and DCH boxes worked flawlessly & never showed this problem.

[CATV] Tivo shows the wrong info banner

I just noticed this and I am wondering what to do.

I have a Tivo HD w/ two cable cards and a normal RCN HD DVR, the RCN box shows the right channels but the TiVo doesnt match up all of a sudden - If I tune to 313 which is the History channel the Tivo displays a music channel in the info/guide. I ran the setup again and it shows three options for my zip (18013):

RCN
RCN Allentown
RCN One Way

I did the RCN one again and no go, I am in the middle of trying the RCN Allentown one and will report back.

Anyone else have a Tivo/Cable cards with the similar problem?

Thanks!

Edit - Well it seemed that the RCN Allentown was the ticket, all the channels line up perfectly.

[E-MAIL] Webmail and pop servers are SLOW! Northampton, PA

We have been experiencing very poor service with rcn's mail servers. It doesn't matter if we access via webmail or use Outlook to access the pop server directly. At times, like right now, it's unusable. I've called several times to complain. Each time I get a person I have a difficult time understanding. And each time they try to tell me it's my router. It's NEVER been my router. I've followed their directions and unconnected the router from my connections and nothing changes. Something needs to be done. How can I file a direct complaint? I don't know how to get past the techs that don't know anything about the issue.

[CATV] Vertical Green Line on right, tear on left, Motorola DVR

Hi, I have the Motorola DCT3416 hooked up via HDMI to a Samsung LCD. Its been working fine in "Just Scan" mode for almost 2 years until about 2 months ago when a vertical green line appeared on the right side of the display. I reset the cable box (power off, unplug, wait, etc) and that fixed it until I turned the TV off and back on at which point it comes back. The same thing if I call RCN and have them refresh the box. I assume it is not the TV as it works fine with HDMI from my PC at the same 1080 resolution.
A google search for "motorola green line" finds lots of people with the same problem all apparently starting when their box updated to a new IMG software. Like this one:

"My cox DVR cable box updated itself 2am feb25th 2009 with new img software. When it came back on my 42" Sharp Aquos had a very bright and annoying thin verticle green line on the right side on every hd channel. On the left side was a verticle blurry line, or pixlelized line, or distortion line, i dont know what to call it, but it was hardly noticeable."
Sure enough, when I check the DVR software it says: 16.57, Sep 4, 2008. Just like some other people, if I change the color space from YCC to RGB the Green line disappears but not the weird tearing distortion on the left.

Is there any hope that there is, or will be, a newer software version that will fix this or am I doomed to running in 720P mode or overscanning?

Thanks.

[Other] Customer Service (Local care - cancellation dept)

WOW. Talk about attitude problems!

I didn't believe the posts on here about their sudden change in attitude, but they are really nasty.

I called because my HBO promo that I was promised 3 months ago fell off. It was supposed to be for 6 months.

The lady was all snooty and said there is no such thing as a 6 month HBO promo.

And that I already had all the current discounts possible.

I told her that was not true as my crush letter told me I could get 4 digital boxes for $8.88, yet I am paying $4.95 for 2 of them, and $3.95 for 1 (no idea why? they're all regular SD boxes). Suddenly she can adjust my bill, knocking the first box free, the other 2 @ $2.95, and my DVR from $17.95 to $14.95.

Then, I mention that GSN was removed and this was a particularly popular channel in this house, and that SecTV is still carrying it on an ANALOG channel (included in BASIC cable!) and she was even more snotty and said "yeah, until the end of the year when they go digital". Uhh sorry, wrong, SecTV is actually campaigning against the all digital crush. Try again. lol. She was like "I have SecTV and I know what they're doing, whatever you think sir"....

The reason I brought GSN up was because apparently it's $9.95 extra for the HD Suite tier which includes "MGMHD, UniHD.. etc etc". I ended up taking it for the $9.95 (no promo) because she lowered my box costs.

But WOW, RCN customer care used to be so helpful and nice...but now, what's with the attitude?

[CATV] Anyone Crushed in the LV yet???

A co-worker said his box reset last night. Nothing was working. Called RCN, they refreshed the box, and everything came back and "all his channel numbers were messed up... CNN moved into the 300's"

I figure he must have been crushed last night. He lives west of allentown, but not sure exactly where...

Anyway, looks like it's starting to happen..??
