Is it a new system that you are trying to dual boot to 98? The Dell laptop that I am using doesn’t have PS2 or serial ports, but its bios makes the mouse look like a PS2 to DOS mouse drivers. So if it is a new motherboard, it is most likely a BIOS setup/BIOS problem.

Anyway, If you DLed Intellipoint 5 mouse drivers they are the worst you need 4.1 or 4.12.

Your computer should have a PS2 port and most USB mouse devices have a USB to PS2 adapter. If you need to make it work try turning on/off USB legacy support in your BIOS.

The adapter installs fine, but it recognizes the mouse as an unknow usb device. I have tried DL'ing the Microsoft fix for it to no avail. I have uninstalled it, reinstalled it, several times, and it still says code 10 "unknow usb device". Why oh why does it not recognize the mouse?
