Millions of email spams were sent by the Richter & Company . . . 8,000 of which were to the spamtrap addresses.

Conjecture
Spammers may now know that Hotmail is "sprinkled" with these spamtrap addresses and may be laying off sending spam to Hotmail in order to avoid hitting these spamtraps and drawing attention to themselves.
