I don't know what he was doing; but he was there for over an hour. And, my level came back down right around that time.<br><br>Do you think that this might be an intermitent problem that might come back? I received very quick consistent pings with no packet loss. Documentation I have looked at shows its not possible for your modem to reflect those type of signals while maintaining a consistent quality connection. If you would like we can swap out your modem. Just call tech support and let someone know. Cableguy, if you can IM me your modem mac or street name Il look into the downstream issue.]]></description>

As the SNR decreases below 30 dB, performance will steadily decrease, and errors will increase. The cable modem might stop working properly if the SNR drops below 23.5 dB."<br>In the fine print at the bottom of their page they do also state that they do not approve, support, warrant, guarantee or otherwise endorse any information in the web site. ie... use at your own risk.<br><br>Bottom line is if you are having problems you should call a tech, if not, then don't worry about signal levels and such unless you want to do some research, or know how things are working/work. If it is read correctly, it states that the SNR on the DOWNSTREAM should be 30 or higher, higher being better. And the upstream power levels should be lower then 50. Someone somewhere doesn't think the Albany,Ga. system has a problem. So, what else is there to do? I guess not worry about it. I'm not getting paid to figure these kinds of problems out, so i give up. I'll just do what i get paid to do. ]]></description>

Are these numbers good, bad, good enough to pass mediacom tests?<br><br>I'm currently having some problems that I was suspecting my cablemodem to be the problem.  My pings rise tremendously when playing UT2k3 online.  traceroutes show 3000-4000ms much of the time right at my mediacom ip when tracing from network-tools.com.  Downloading large files on the order of several hundred megs does not reveal this problem but the speed seems ok.  This problem surfaced about 2 weeks ago and while not consistent 24/7, it does do it everyday and quite often.  I removed my router out of the equation and got the same results.<br><br>Different nics have been tried.
