And with the job I had there I was based in the Everglades and was sent out to western Parks during the summer during the high fire season. That pic was taken at a small fire from a lightning strike at Rocky Mountain National Park. Was huffin and puffin when I got there. Went from sea level to about an 8,000 foot elevation when I traveled there.

Weight Watchers. Well, "Unofficial Weight Watchers" really. My wife and I found information about WW from friends/the Internet and did it all by ourselves. She's lost 45 pounds so between the two of us we've lost over a hundred pounds in 8 months. Only downside is needing to buy new clothes when you're on a tight budget to begin with! ;-)

when I first looked at this I thought you were a pilot for a full sized copter. I just clicked on the picture and realized that you were operating the copter. lol
Nice one. And, that is an expensive hobby. But, a whole lot of fun.
The compostition almost makes the copter look like it's parked on the hill behind you. That's in the thumbnail picture only though.

The insignia was of a BM3. We had two reenlistments that morning...the other one was the great nephew of one of the names on the wall.

As for common...yes. As time goes on a fair number of military personnel lose sight of the history and tradition. These two never failed to embrace it. Yes, the ARIZONA Memorial is a somber place, but it reminds us of our duties.

That day also marked the third time that I had been involved in some sort of celebration of our Naval heritage during WWII. The first time was as a Midshipman at the Naval Academy during the Army/Navy football game Dec 7, 1991. The second was a Battle of Midway memorial with my ship and 8 Japanese ships participating (I used one of them as a picture in last week's Scavenger Hunt). The reenlistment, and observing colors, on the memorial was the third.
