anon : That's exactly correct. Bring the cable into a splitter, run one cable to the TV Antenna In and the other to the Digital Box >>VCR>>Video In on the TV. You can then record anything out of the Digital Box and watch anything that's coming in on the TV.

GotGhosts : Our cable runs through the digital cable box then runs out of the box to the vcr and from the vcr to the t.v. As for the digital box if your t.v. is digital you might not need the box. If thats the case you might not have this issue at all. Let me know if your t.v. is digital cable ready and if you can record and watch another channel. If that works I'll be buying a new digital t.v. even though I already bought 2 new vcr's for my other t.v's. :)

*Edit; I'm glad your getting it for free!
[text was edited by author 2003-08-25 13:18:25]

ErikO : Wow, I would have never thought of that. I wonder if I could split the cable - 1 run goes into the digital cable box (and then the TV), and then the other run goes into my VCR. I know I'd only be able to tape the regular programming (not digital), but that might be a solution for the common channels. I guess I'll play with it. Hey, it's free, I'm not complaining!
--
Livin' the broadband dream!

GotGhosts : Thats nice that Adelphia is sort of reinbursing you for your Rewards points. We have Adelphia Digital cable without any premium movie channels and you do get allot of channels, most of them we don't ever watch. You will get a digital box and they will set that up for you. We only have digital on 1 television because we would have had to pay for each t.v. that had a box and we didn't think that was necessary.

Make sure you have a vcr on another t.v. that doesn't have digital cable because you can't watch other channels while your recording something on the t.v. that you have the digital cable on. I found this out the hard way. While I thought I was recording the very last episode of "The X-Files" all that it recorded was the sports channels he was surfing! You can record with the t.v. thats digital but you can't change the channels while your recording. I have asked many Adelphia people if there is a way around this and everyone said digital cable isn't made to do that yet.
