 | Any bandwidth limitations on ION? Has anyone found that SprintION has an Upload or Download limitation as far as file transfer? I read my contract and it mostly concerned with content and says nothing about size. I have a friend that has been hounded by Cox Cable to reduce his push rate to 500m per day or else. |
 | In almost a year with ION, I've never heard of or encountered any limit on the quantity of data moved through the pipe. If you moved truly massive quantities, Sprint might look to see if you're violating contractual restrictions on what you can do (such as web hosting). In your friend's case, Cox may feel that his use is clogging the shared bandwidth in his neighborhood. |

 | Where can I find this "fine print"? Is it an online contract? I never signed any agreement that I can remember, unless it was when I installed the Earthlink prog. Thanx for your response |
 | Earthlink limits are only an issue if you're moving mail through their servers (in which case you may run into file size limits) or if you're accessing Earthlink via dial-up. ION itself doesn't have limits. If you need to move large files regularly, you'll need some other mail server besides earthlink.
As to the Earthlink software, my recommendation (and one many veteran ION users also make) is don't let them install it, and take it off if they did. You don't need it, and, unless it's been improved lately, it installs stuff that's useless (like Winpoet PPOE). |
 | Thanx for the suggestion. I thought Earthlink 5.0 was required for the service. I un-installed it and now use my old fav IE. I feel cozy again. -- Still waiting for my copy of "MENSA for Dummies" |

 | You might want to go into your "add/remove programs" and look for some little traces of the Earthlink software if you did remove it. I remember seeing some left over program, unless they have changed it from a year or so ago. Keep in mind the Earthlink software does work correctly, but Sir Loin is correct in his statement that it is not needed. -- JWL |
