<description><![CDATA[<A HREF="/useremail/u/293117"><b>mocycler</b></A> : I would be cool with that...but what similar mechanism can be put in place to protect the taxpayers if the municipal project goes belly-up? <br><br>If SBC/Comcast had any brains, they would shut up and allow the municipal deployment. Then when it bankrupts, they buy it out for pennies on the dollar...complete with infrastructure, customer base, etc. <br><br>If the cities are successful, then SBC/Comcast builds out their own network according to their own business plan and engages in legitimate competition for customers...which is what they claim they want anyway.  <br><br>To be fair, if I were an SBC employee living in that area, I would kind of resent my tax dollars being used this way.<br><br>peace,<br>mocycler <br><i>[text was edited by author 2003-03-25 19:26:56]</i><br>]]></description>
