I find irony in Best Buy suggesting people dump Time Warner's VoIP. I have always viewed it as the more expensive, lower featured, over hyped product.

TWC has an advantage in that it can apply quality of service prioritization all the way from the customer premises equipment to where it meets the public telephone network.
Third party VOIP services are subject to problems caused by poor quality/congested internet routes, bugs in routers (VOIPo Tim is famous for telling people "most problems are traced back to customer equipment fault" when people complain about problems), and contention with your own internet traffic. Tim's conclusion may well be true, but its something you don't have to be concerned with if you go with TWC's solution.
I use VOIPo because it's cheap and works "just well enough" for my purposes. I have a cell phone if the voip is not working. I would never, EVER recommend this service to non-technical people though. It's cheap, yes, and full of nice extra features, but you definitely get what you pay for.
