Re: Comapre the iPad Mini; Google Nexus 7; Kindle Fire HD

Nexus 7 is the clear winner there for a 7" and the Kindle for 9"

Let's give it a couple of months to let sales make that determination. There are several 10" Android tablets the "beat" the iPad, yet the iPad is number one.

Total MINI Fail.

784k pixels on a nearly 8" screen.

Nexus 7 has 1 million pixels.

It all about the pixels.

Oh and it costs less. Oh and its quadcore.

Just think about this: If it was anything else besides iOS & Apple you would have reviewers saying these specs blow, especially for the price.

Main reason for the resolution is no doubt so existing apps will work on day 1 as it's the same resolution as the iPad 1 and 2. I'm sure the 2nd or 3rd gen will introduce retina displays to it.

So your logic is that because it sells better, it is a "better" tablet? Thanks for providing me my daily dosage of derp for the day.

No way? Really? You mean to tell me they're gonna release the same tablet again, with "new" 1 year old technology, and give it a premium price? Whoda thunk it!

Seriously, the 32GB iPad mini (the "mini" is for miniature specs) is priced $180 higher than the 32GB Nexus 7 and it has inferior hardware.

You talk like you've been personally insulted by what was announced. If you don't see any value in it then don't buy it.

Apple's laptops and desktops were the number 1 selling line of both categories in the US last quarter. The many brands of Windows PCs may still sell more total volume but that's a pretty good increase from even just a few years ago and it will only continue. The PC market is shrinking while the Mac is continuing to grow. Oh, and where does market research find a lot of those lost PC sales are going? To the iPad.

If Apple sells a truckload of them, what do they care? It's not about putting out the best product, it's about a corporation making a profit.

The corporate suits at Apple couldn't care less about the musings of Internet forum members. Quarterly reports & profits are what matters.

If they sell the heck out of them going into the holiday season, it's a triumph. If they end up giving them away like BlackBerry Playbooks, you can call it a flop.

Something tells me they'll sell a boat load of them. If that's the case, then epic win for Apple. Tech specs be damned...

No, my logic is that because it sells better, more demand exists and is therefore a better product for more consumers. Obviously, "better" is relevant and Apple's marketing department will likely continue crushing the competition. Personally, I do not like iOS devices and will continue enjoying my Android-based table and phones, but that's not what we're discussing.

You are missing the point. A better product to you does not necessarily mean a better product for the market.

Note: The Nexus 7 comes in 8GB and 16GB versions. There is no 32GB version.

No it's not.

1. There are more options based on the chart provided to fit more range of users who might use a tablet as the primary machine.

2. Weight and size goes to iPad by just a few points but numbers are numbers.

3. iPad has more memory and it's available if you so desire the space.

4. No rear facing camera on Nexus.

5. 4G option available.

6. One extra color for iPad.

Although these thing's might not mean much to us. The clear winner is really the iPad in this case.

A valid point to bring up though is that the Nexus 7 was introduced summer of this year ahead of the new iPad so clearly they were going to release a product that surpasses the Nexus 7 even by a few points. We will need to wait for the new tablet that Google has decided to make with Samsung in order for them to take the lead again.

As for the OS. It's all preference and that's the end of that story.

Google Nexus user,

-michieru

Umm, ok. Which does a majority of the market see the most value in? Which does a majority of the market believe is the best purchase?

Yes, there is a 32GB version. It's supposed to be "released" soon I'm sure, but people have been able to buy it at Staples already.
