No SD slot makes the Nexus worthless. Throw a slot in it and it would shine. I would never buy an 8-16GB tab with no expansion. For fixed RAM I wouldn't get anything less than 64GB and for the iPad mini, it's way overpriced, WAY overpriced.

If you root the nexus you can use ota USB to add storage. I have 128 gig flash drive with all my movies on it that I use with my nexus. Makes the price difference even greater.

It's not inboard...the point of a tab is portability.

Its just as portable. No different than any other thumb drive. You can get an adapter cable for the USB so that the thumb drive can be placed wherever you wish.

I don't like dongles. They annoy me. SD slots are much teh better.

Well if you don't want to use the alternative, more power to you.

It's not like the iPad mini is any different. Any peripherals need to be added via their "lightning" connector.

The alternative is buying a tablet that already does it right like the $199 Galaxy Tab 2...with the apparently evil mSD slot.

Hahaha yeah I've noticed a lot of tablets aren't putting them in....

I agree that there should be an SD slot, and I like having that available. The flash drive setup is not perfect, but it works and is about 200 bucks cheaper than an apple product and has the freedom of the android os.
