The speed is slightly faster for a couple bucks more than what I was paying for 10Meg Cable, and the huge advantage is my ping times in WoW have been cut by almost 50%. Makes cable look really bad. My only gripe is that both cable and DSL ISPs are stingy with upload speed. |

Although this issue has little to do with cable vs. DSL (both are capable of stable pings, even if Black_Mage's cable ISP did a poor job of it in his neighborhood), it does nicely demonstrate why it's good to have a choice. If DSL dies off, the only choice most of us will have is cable. | reply to Black_Mage They were referring to your mention of World of Warcraft. That person probably got butt hurt over the fact that DSL has much lower latency than cable and attempted to troll the WoW part grasping at straws not finding any fact on their part.
Then again that person says they have a website and can't even keep it running? »www.pridelands.us/
Going by that person's method of judgement, I would have to say they are the most invalid on this site. -- "I like to refer to myself as an Adult Film Efficienato." - Stuart Bondek |

Simba7I Void Warranties join:2003-03-24 Billings, MT | Hey, I have to mess with a few WoW users every now and then. Don't get butt hurt over that. I prefer FPS games instead of RPG, anyway.
As for DSL having lower latency than cable, it depends on who you're with. CL here sucks for latency.. If you could keep your connection up long enough without it retraining.
As for my domain, it actually points to my server in the closet. Unfortunately, CenturyLink's connection sucks so bad that I took it down. It's more of a personal domain anyway. -- Bresnan 30M/5M | CenturyLink 5M/896K MyWS[PnmIIX3@3.2G,8G RAM,500G+1.5T+2T HDDs,Win7] WifeWS[A64@2G,2G RAM,120G HDD,Win7] Router[2xP3@1G,2G RAM,18G HDD,Allied Telesyn AT2560FX,2xDigital DE504,Sun X1034A,2xSun X4444A,SMC 8432BTA,Gentoo] |

My only gripe is that both cable and DSL ISPs are stingy with upload speed. Be glad you didnt sign up with CenturyLink in an area that was Previously Qwest. Because 90% of the rural areas that qwest decided to expand DSL to run on phone lines that were laid 40-70 years ago, it was Qwest's policy to run EVERY DSL connection with Interleave Enabled. So im stuck with a base ping of ~70ms and pretty much all of my games end up having a base ping of ~100-140 |
