True. They were in the initial portions of FiOS but that quickly died off. LTE however, is much faster and cheaper to deploy than fiber to the home, which is why they can deploy it as fast as they've been going. Getting adequate connectivity to cell sites for LTE isn't too difficult either, since there's plenty of methods around that supply ample backhaul to each tower.

Bingo. The margins on wireless service warrant a fast rollout. Building out FTTH is costly and time consuming. How long did it take the real AT&T to build the PSTN? More than a couple of years. Give it time

The reason why FiOS slowed is 2-fold. A) the brainchild behind it left the company. B) ignorant and impatient shareholders that the new management caters to.
