Can get up to 24Mbps on Sprint near window in downtown office building, about 10-12Mbps at my desk. Not that smartphones need that much. The low latency has more impact to smartphone apps after a few Mbps.

I agree, unless I'm in a hurry to download a new app, 3G is typically fast enough. Well I guess if I try to use the NFL Sunday Ticket app the LTE speeds are nice.
