Typical Apple Mentality

We are going to yank something that currently works great, because they are a competitor, and force you to use this piece of crap that is nowhere near ready. But we PROMISE it will work one day! Maybe!

Hey at least they did not say people are holding the phones wrong.

I disagree, I don't think this is Apple mentality. If Steve was alive today, this crap wouldn't have happened.

But it's not the "typical" Apple mentality.

Every single part of his cremated body is spinning wherever it lays now from this fiasco.

It's all just a feature. Nobody really wants to go to Brooklyn.

I agree, this disaster of a OS wouldn't have seen the light of day if Jobs was still alive. Now I have to go through loops to get back my iOS 5 back. That, or just go back to using a BB.

Or the competitor is not letting you do what you want. Apparently Google wouldn't let them do turn-by-turn using their maps.

Having done Apple Tier 2 support and working with the engineers when the iPhone was originally released, I can say that it is absolutely Apple mentality.

AMDS issues on Windows that Apple blamed on everyone but themselves until one day the issues were magically fixed by an iTunes update still give me nightmares.

This isn't the first time there has been a botched iOS release. There was one in the pre-3G days when the things were only sold in the US and a few European countries that bricked god knows how many phones that were a scourge to deal with on the support end. People just never hear about any of it or quickly forget about it because Apple runs a very efficient propaganda machine.

All things considered, if Maps is the only thing that sucks they could have done a lot worse.

I think what is being said is this may be the new apple mentality and will become typical since Steve is now gone.

The bricking was due to people using an old version of the AnySIM unlock. I know...I sold a competitor that didn't brick when people upgraded their phones. Phones were unbricked later, and a new version of AnySIM came out that didn't brick things when upgrades were made.

Sure about that?

I thought that was a limitation Apple placed on GMaps awhile back.

It's always been an Apple app. It was a license decision by Google. You can suspect they were trying to cripple iOS to benefit Android, but you never know.

Not FORCED, just ignore the icon. There is an app for that. GPSdrive. I love it.

But I don't like the Apple mentality nonetheless-- that is the behavior of a monopolist, and Apple has always been that way, so is that surprising? - since day 1.

Did you not get the memo in the 80's?

You buy an Apple product, you don't make the decisions Apple does.

I personally love the IDEA of my Nexus 7 better than my Ipad, but guess what that Nexus 7 has some nasty bugs and google wallet, chrome, videos don't work, and a bunch of other yet to be names things is killing off my battery. So I put my Nexus to the side, and use my Ipad. If I look at my mothball of hardware, it's all failed Android technology. Even my original ipad gets daily usage from the kids. I do let my son take his china pad to school, because if it get's lost then there is one less piece of failed Android technology to worry about.

Right. The problem was with how Apple handled it. I had heard more screaming customers during that one week than I had not only before, but after as well.

His "china" pad? The same place your ipad is made...so it must be a "china pad" as well eh?
