Re: BPL to the rescue BPL in other countries may be doable, BPL in the US is not. A lot of our powerlines have very little (or even no) shielding. We've tried it and failed. Power over unshielded lines causes massive amounts of interference (it's physics, not politics.) In adddition, power companies can't get the kind of margins they need to make up the cost of deployment. (politics, not physics.) In some cases we are talking 100 miles (160+ kilometers) just to service 2-5 households. |
