Shrug

Cut the cord. Problem solved.

Most of you who do this will be very surprised that you won't be missing cable TV much at all.

Which is why I, only have Limited basic (no OTA signals reach me)
$2.90 a month for the local news is a good value, every other package offered is more than I'm willing to pay.
ComCast can charge what they want, but I can easily walk away, and the more that do, the more likely the prices will moderate.

The problem with cutting the cord is that you're still tethered to the cord, so to speak. Cutting the "cord" generally involves internet service of some sort, which companies like Comcast will be more than happy to provide... at an inflated non-bundled rate replete with annual price hikes.

We will have been cord-cutters for two years in December. I've been surprised how little we miss it. It would be even less of an inconvenience if my husband would by a real rooftop antenna and not another piece of junk.

I can stomach the relatively minor (as compared to Cable TV) price hikes for Internet. I just can't deal with sending close to a car payment to Comcast every month.

But that being said, we're on Comcast's second lowest Internet tier, Economy Plus. Surprisingly, it works very well for us. Though granted if I need to VPN and then RDP into work, I have to make sure no one is streaming any video.

Get me a way to have MASN without cable, and I'm all ears.

Plenty of areas can't get anything via antenna. Up here, the best you can do is get WHAG out of Hagerstown and WNPB, the PBS out of Morgantown. If you're lucky, you'll get either the MPT from Hagerstown or Oakland.

You don't have a chance of picking up CBS, ABC or FOX here OTA.

Is that one channel worth paying all that money?

Not really. Comcast's Cable TV discount for having internet service is equivalent to the price of their lowest package. So they ensure that if you have internet, you must have cable because its priced in.

Still, nothing wrong with having limited basic and the economy internet package. That is what I have. Its not free but I'm sure Comcast is getting the message considering my previous years bill was $120+/month...

I was just using it as an example as I could buy a package like MLB.tv and still not receive the in-market stuff I'd actually want. Basically, you're not getting any sports unless they're broadcast OTA (Most of them are not now), and OTA up here is a fantasy.

for some it might be, certainly cheaper than going to a ballgame or 3.
this is all about how people CHOOSE to spend their entertainment dollar.

Exactly.

To me, Cable TV is just a luxury, regardless of where you live. It isn't like food or water or things of that nature.

But too many people (and no this is not directed at the OP) think they absolutely must have it, and they grudgingly pay higher and higher prices for it.

Are you sure you didn't omit a digit there? Comcast limited basic is $22/mo where I live.
