BF69Premium join:2004-07-28 Camden, TN | Mostly good, some bad Well the new basic Fire is $40 less than the old Fire and has a better processor and better speakers. So right there it's winner those that just recently got afire have to be feeling they got jipped.
However for only $40 more and the same prices as the old Fire you can get the Fire HD which also has a better screen, double the storage( Actually 2.3 times ), dual band Wi-Fi and HDMI out.
I have to think about if the better processor, extra 1.9" screen size and 1920X1200 screen( vs 1280X 800 ) is worth the extra $100 for the Fire HD 8.9 vs Fire HD 7
LTE version might have been worth the price if they had gone with Verizon over at&t.
Also still no SD slot for extra storage. Going from 16 GB to 32 GB version or 32 GB to 64 GB version more expensive that just getting an extra 16 GB or 32 GB SD card.
32 GB Fire HD 8.9 is $70 more than 16 GB version. For half that I could get a 32 GB SD card for a total of 48 GB storage.
64 GB Fire HD with LTE is $100 more than 32 GB version. Once again 32 GB SD card is $35 or less.
Also 64 GB only available on LTE version.
Free cloud storage for Amazon stuff is nice but you don't always have access to the cloud. |
