Re: Check local coverage here Yes, your absolutely right. It's a glorified 3g phone. It was one of the first 4g phones t-mobile offered. They quickly launched some 21Mb 4g phones (double the speed) and eventually 42Mb/s HSPA+ phones.
They mislead you when you got it. Both my one s and amaze 4g are 42Mb/s HSPA+ phones, which here in chicago is faster than at&t LTE (which is around 36Mb. Though they get better upload)
If you get get a newer phone, MAKE SURE you ask what speed 4g it is. Most are 42Mb but phones like the nexus s are only 21Mb capable phones.
