Because text compresses quite well, so 3TB in uncompressed data can be as little as a few GB compressed data.

Still doesn't make sense on why that would make it more believable. I would be more inclined to believe it if it were compressed rather than uncompressed.

I'm not sure why you aren't getting this.

If the data was 3 TB uncompressed, then downloading it would take "forever" (well about 24 to 48 hours). If the 3 TB worth of data was compressed down to a manageable say 10 GB or something, then it would only take a few hours to download. After downloading then the data could be uncompressed at leisure.
