Apple will have to find a different alternative, which will involve large amounts of engineering / fabrication / R&D if they do it themselves. |

yaplejPremium join:2001-02-10 White City, OR | reply to ToxicDrew What I read the other manufactures have agreement with Samsung that provide the indirect customers license for the LTE technology provided their customers dont sue Samsung.
Now that Apple sued Samsung looks like their LTE license just got revoked. Now they are infringing on Samsungs tech. Remove or disable your LTE chipset or face legal action. Oh you cannot disable it because then everyone will have a new iPhone5 I mean the new iTouch5. Probably not enough time to swap the chips to something else either without massive re-design and delays.
Samsung is the only manufacture for the iPhone's precious retina display. So far Samsung has not permitted anyone else to manufacture the retina display so I guess the next iPhone wont have such a pretty screen. Back to the standard LCD for you!
Apple exec says to other Apple exec "Hmmmm maybe we should have reviewed our relationship with Samsung a little closer before taking them to court." other Apple exec replies "Probably." -- sk_buff what?

1 edit | Supplier agreements, at least every one I've ever seen absolve the buyer against any patent claim stemming from the use of the purchased product (meaning the supplier guarantees that what you are describing can't happen). So if Sammy does this, those suppliers like Broadcom are up S-creek, stuck between giants Samsung and Apple. Apple would then hit Broadcom for violation of the supplier agreement. Broadcom would have to compensate Apple for any losses.

 | reply to LightS You fail to realize that Apple designed most of their own custom chips, and Samsung constructs them. Apple is a very secretive company and they seldom use third party hardware not constructed with their own specifications.. |

Samsung would only be screwing themselves. |
