Samsung lost on every claim in their counter-suit and got $0. ... and yet can still appeal. So this decision means nothing. You are sticking your head in the sand if you think this decision means nothing. Sure Samsung can appeal, but in the 2 yrs before that can all play out, other makers of Android devices will have to make decisions on redesigning, making deals with Apple to pay royalties, etc. It will just further cement Apple's domination of the smartphone market for another couple years.
