elray join:2000-12-16 Santa Monica, CA | Doubtful Google is going to find that people aren't signing up for $70 internet in droves, nor $120 pay-tv-without-HBO-or-ESPN. They're also going to find out that customer service matters.
Google quits, quickly and often, without much notice, explanation, or apology. They will find that other cities aren't as gracious or willing to bend as KC, and the legal challenges will mount.
Meanwhile, the local cable firms WILL step up with short-term packages that people want, i.e. 20Mbps double-play for $69 with a two-year price guarantee. |

LOL. 20 for $70? Price guarantee? What a joke. That's approaching double what it should be! People want that if they like being completely ripped off. |
|
 | Laugh what you will but for 30/2 and basic cable I'm paying TWICE that. So I would definently jump on that package. No one will ever see that price in an established market though. |

You probably have a lame ass cap on your connection too. |

It isn't double "what it should be", its double the service for Google's basic price. |

LightSPremium join:2005-12-17 Greenville, TX | reply to elray I'm glad that you're a fortune teller. It's obvious that you know that google plans on investing a ton of money into rolling out their fiber to KC just to quit.
No big deal, I'm glad we have optimistic folks like you. |

elray join:2000-12-16 Santa Monica, CA | Google quits. A lot. At a loss.
If they stay, for the long haul, if they offer up a video package thats on par with the incumbent(s), if they expand their experiment beyond the beta city, I'll be the first to laud them.
So far, they haven't proven themselves able or willing to support most of any of their products. |
|
LightSPremium join:2005-12-17 Greenville, TX | They have pretty good support for their paid products.
Google's gmail for businesses, for example. |
|
elray join:2000-12-16 Santa Monica, CA | Does Gmail-for-business allow you to sort messages by date, size, origin, etc? Does it allow you to keep your messages in folders? Does it return more than 20 search results at a time?
So much for support. |
|
 | what's that have to do with support? those are product features |
|
elray join:2000-12-16 Santa Monica, CA | Their lack demonstrate's Google's unwillingness to support their product. |
