That could be possible, with the amount of fiber Google owns, if they wanted to become an ISP they'd be the 3rd largest in the world, you never know what Google is going to do next.

they may own a fiber network, but it is not cheap to build out into a city. They can do well in areas were telco and cable has failed to build, but to over build on an area were there is plant already established will cost alot more and will have to bank on they actually get a return. When say the average cost to build out to A customer would say be 1200.00 a home it would be easily alomst a yr and a half before they see any return.

Not to many companies I know as well as stock holders will put up with that.

Yeah, and that's the problem. So many of these investors care only about the extreme short term. They want returns and they want it now!

Nobody cares about long term investing anymore. They all wants profits now and to hell with the long term health of the company and their customers. If the company dies or is in a death spiral, oh well, onto the next company to f*** over... sorry, I mean invest in.

Precisely the problem with FiOS. This product will endure the next 100 years, but the short-term pricks decided to stop the roll-out. I love my FiOS service, its damn awesome. Verizon should have reached the finish line and tranformed all its copper to fiber. Half- assed BS management.

But you think a superior product offered for less money will be a "failure"?

Makes perfect sense.

When youre basically giving it away ? Likely taking a loss?!

Yes !

And how exactly is Google superior to FioS? Internet speed? Thats how you rate services? Does Google have ESPN yet? FiOS wins. lol. If you seriously think Google could compete with Verizon FiOS (which they would never dare to even try) , you are off your rocker.

Don't bother with DataRiker- he thinks that Google will take over the world with their free internet. He also thinks that the shareholders are not going to want their $$$ back.

And remember; if you don't drink the Google-Aid on this site you don't know anything.

Do you also think GOOGLE makes no money on Android? »push it to the coasts.. We have people on this forum who don't understand the basic business model of google.

I don't like google so much by the way as an investor.

But to say that their KC roll out will be a failure because of stockholders when a company has hoarded cash for a decade without any payment is a little crazy.

About 75% of money made in the stock market last year was paid in Dividends. Google does not have one. That irks me to no end, and shareholders should literally be screaming.

But they are not.

I'm going to need both of you to be a little smarter ok.

You are not logical. If you were you would understand that Google's Shareholder are going to want their $$$$ back.

And Android does not make any money compared to their other products. Play does NOT make a dime unless the app is paid for. If its free you think Google is going to make anything? HELL NO.

And searches on the phone? hardly when you have Cellco setting the search engine to BING!.

And by pushing Google products- yes you do sound like you like them. You actually push them more than Karl by claiming they're so great and people are talking about it- until they see how much they gotta pay up front to even thinking about getting that product. They gave it away in other areas, they could here as well. But oh wait! Shareholders would NOT allow that to happen now would that?

Yes but the point you fail to realize is that institutions are using Google stock as merely a money sink. Something like a savings account with a little bit of return in a raising stock price. Something stable for the tech sector.

Having Billions cash on hand can do that.

But its up to the institutional shareholders to demand a dividend to get those billions to shareholders.

Smaller investors have been asking for a dividend for a while now.

They can get their money back by simply calling their broker or getting on eTrade and selling their shares.

This makes no sense... If they already have a plant there, how will it be more expensive? I mean they run their own fiber just about everywhere (thus the reason they'd be the 3rd largest ISP) all they'd need to do is "hook customers is" the rest is already built......
