US fines Google $22.5 M for break consent decree on privacy
Google signed a consent decree with the US in 2010 on tracking user activities that is to run 20 yrs. Google broke that consent decree and got fined $22.5 million for that breach. That is only about four hours of revenue for Google, so the amount of the fine is meaningless. But the PR problem is that Google is rapidly leaving behind their promise to "do no evil".
It's funny, this item makes it seem like Google is not interested in piracy, and yet the item on downplaying search results does.
End result, no one is ever going to really think anyone that makes any sort of existence online is ever going to be doing 'enough' to satisfy the people whining that the digital world doesn't care enough about their digital goods.
