Uverse 2wire & Time Capsule SSID displayed twice

All features working perfectly okay, internet, wireless & wired; television, dvr, remote access, etc.

With that said, is it normal to have my SSID (2Wire) shown twice on the list of networks available?

Do I have some setting setup incorrectly? If so, why does everything work?

Might be your neighbor. Change the SSID to something else and see what happens.

really don't think so because it is the uverse default SSID. I'll try it.

If your using the TIme Capsule wireless, why not just disable the 2-Wire wireless?

Can't change the SSID? Browse to 192.168.1.254 and post a SS of the homepage of your modem. Sounds like you either have an iNid with 2 different APs using the same broadcast, or you've set the time capsule broadcast to the same as the Uverse modem. Either way, it's working as intended as long as the two broadcasts aren't overlapping so they interfere with each other.

The U-verse default SSID isn't 2Wire, it's 2WIRE followed by a 3 digit number. E.g., 2WIRE009, 2WIRE577, 2WIRE456. If you're seeing two "2WIRE"s, that sounds like whatever you're using to view the list is only showing you the first part of it. Maybe try making the column wider?

You shouldn't see duplicate SSIDs unless you're doing some low-level network troubleshooting. Two APs with the same SSID are considered to be the same network, and only show up once in the average wireless configuration utility.

It is possible that a neighbor has the same SSID, rare. When I was in houston i remove a 3800 with SSID 2WIRE666, this same RG showed up as a refurb in the San antonio market. I know this bc the Ipad i use linked right up with no password while i was sitting in front of the customers house.

I have only seen this once but the amount of refub equip in the filed is way more than 50% these days, nothing like back in 08 when all most was new and actually worked.
