My family has the older $25 version of the Virgin Mobile plan, and coverage is decent, but Internet isn't so hot.

I'm willing to accept a certain amount of performance reduction if I go from a high price point for a data plan to a low one. I know that at the end of the day you get what you pay for. I just see no justification in going from $70 a month for unlimited data and voice to $90 a month for unlimited voice and 1GB of data. And judging from our previous levels of usage, we'll easily incur overages under these new plans.

In fairness to Virgin Mobile, it's usually able to pull up web pages, almost always has voice, the problem is streaming is uneven over a much larger area than vanilla sprint was.

However, for 5 phones, unlimited Internet (though a bit slowish and uneven), texting, and 300 minutes per month for $25 isn't a bad deal imo.

At $35, I'd be tempted to investigate T-Mobile's $30 plan (which I tried, but couldn't justify) or Straight Talk's $45 plan.

However, as my family has the grandfathered $25 Virgin Mobile plan, we probably aren't going anywhere in the near future.

All options at that level are on the table. We have until December to decide. What I'm really trying to do is get my wife to consider an iPhone, which she refuses to do. LOL.
