[Speed] Do existing customers get upgraded to the new speed tier

I noticed RCN eliminated my 15mb $39.99 and replaced it with a 25mb plan. I am still at 15mb according to the RCN speedtest. How do I go about getting the new speed? A simple phone call?

It should be automatic, but you have to power cycle you modem for the change to take effect.

I noticed this a month ago... My internet is still 15/2. I've power cycled my modem plenty of times and heck, our power was out for a couple hours the other week. That should have been the ultimate power cycle!

Go to RCN Lehigh Valley/ »www.rcn.com/lehigh-valley/

Log on to MyRCN Customer Center/click on View Billing History/download your last bill.

Under Bundled Services mine says: Mach 25 Modem Service.

Don't rely on the download test, mines all over the place. I do get 25 on occasion. Mostly around 20. Probably depending on what time of day you check it.

My June bill says Mach 15. I'll give RCN a call tomorrow and see what they say.

@rcn.com

I called about that speed upgrade 2 weeks ago. I was told since I am on a promo rate I will not get the 25mb upgrade.

You could probably call back and get a different person and a different answer. Customer support is inconsistent, not different from all the providers, not only RCN.

FWIW I'm on the promo rate and I was automatically upgraded to 25 from 20.

I have no problem jumping around from provider to provider. Whoever offers me the best deal. I was with service electric last time. I also had direct TV, comcast, and fios at the last place I resided. In montgomery county. I would love to see fios where I live now (Emmaus). Another competitor works. The more the merrier.

I'd call back, maybe over and over again. Especially if you have alternatives.

Bob - Not sure if you called in and got your answer yet, but if you want to PM the name on your account to me, I will check on it for you.
