Re: Flying to Glynco, Georgia Good times.
Some the best memories I hold on to are those of my times in flight training. About 3/4 of the way through I hit a rough patch (about August of 1995) and almost didn't finish. Took a week off from training an decided to come back and finish no matter what. Did a lot of growing up that summer. Decided I wasn't going to quit, no matter what.
I remember doing my "long cross country" from Wilmington DE, to Martinsburg WV, to Rappohanick(SP?), VA to Wilmington Labor Day Weekend 1995. I ended up grounded in Laurel VA for the night due to thunderstorms half way through the flight.
The next morning I woke up, and a cold front had moved through. The morning was clear & crisp. CAVU, not a cloud in the sky and air as smooth as a mountain lake. I made my stop in VA and headed home to ILG over the Chesapeake Bay. Not a cloud in the sky. I sat back in my rented Piper Tomahawk, off the controls and just admired the bay and the landscape below as "Till' I Hear It From You" by the Gin Blossoms ran through my head.
I finished up at ILG a short time later and passed my checkride October 3rd.
I relive that memory over and over again. If there was a moment in time I could transport myself back in time and instantly find myself in, well....
