My neighborhood had a 1 1/2 hour power outage overnight, exhausting the UPS my SB6121 was on. When power was restored and the modem booted up, the new firmware was downloaded to it.
Except for the new "Open Source" tab and those new error messages in the log like everyone else has reported, the operation and performance of the modem appears to be the same. |

I just got the new firmware. |

My speed test runs show the same speeds as prior to the upgrade. |

| reply to GmDude66 I got to be honest I was all excited about the firmware and why? I have no idea I just like new stuff but ever since the update mine is logging all kinds of new logs I have never seen my upstream power is all ovcer the damn place and I did not think firmware would affect that but it seems to have unless something else has gone wrong but what are the chances of that happening at the same time as the update. Comcast would you please come and get this firmware and shove it please?? Thanks. |

3 edits | reply to grandrew No dice here. I'm still seeing quite a few reboots. It looks as though signal levels are all over the place so it might an amp or something and unrelated to software. I'll probably end up messaging ComcastSteve and possibly having a truck rolled. Going to try switching the splitter right now and see if that makes any difference.
EDIT: Keep It Simple Stupid? Been watchin it for 30 minutes now and after changing that splitter out everything seems to be solid. Wouldn't have been my first though that an 8 month old splitter would have gone bad like that. It's not like the tv side has shown any issues and the internet works fine most of the time.
EDIT2: Looks like that didn't fix the issue. Was good for a day or so now I'm having issues again. |

andyrossPremium,MVM join:2003-05-04 Schaumburg, IL | reply to GmDude66 As mentioned, I rebooted a few days ago. Since then, no issues. I did have several T4 reboots over the previous 2-3 weeks, but nothing since the reboot. No new messages in the log at all after one T3 during the initial reconnection.
My upstream levels have always been a bit flakey. Currently down to about 47 on a cool morning. I've seen it as high as 51-52 during some of the hottest days. |

If I remember correctly how Comcast names their config files, that is a DOCSIS 1.1, "silver" speed tier with PowerBoost enabled, and a single IP address. I don't know what Comcast currently considers the "silver" speed tier, but back when I had Comcast residential HSI, it was 4mbps downstream (at my location...YMMV). -- We can never have enough of nature. I'm on the Performance tier and get 16/2 sustained, 25/4 with PowerBoost.
Don't know what difference there might be in the config files for these 2 similar models. Even the firmware version is the same for both (using just "SB612X" in its filename). |
