Re: Need new modem

On the outside the 6121, 6180, 6580 all look alike.

Well, I purchased this one: »www.ebay.com/itm/130726604359?ss···97.l2649. Should be here between Saturday-Monday.

Let us know how it goes, hopefully everything is smooth like it was for me. Seller has a 100% positive rating, which is a plus also.

Well, I got the modem on Monday, and besides a few minor cosmetic damages, it looks brand new. It even had the protective plastic on the front. I did have a few hiccups while trying to swap modems without a cell phone (I only have Vonage), but after a couple hours with two different techs, managed to get it hooked up and back on-line. Just in time for me to go to bed...

Since then I have tried a few speed tests, but haven't gotten anything spectacular till I changed the server. Heres my last test...»speedtest.net/result/2098189189.png

my speedtest.net page...»www.speedtest.net/results.php?sh···89&ria=0

According to the Connect page it shows only 4 bonded down and only one up. My greatest worry is that it is a SB6121 that has had it's sticker replaced and the firmware flashed to look like a SB6180. The minor damage is near a corner of the sticker.

No you have a 6180, and I am pretty sure your not gonna get a 6121 working using the 6180 firmware. Your area simply is only using 4 downstream channels atm. But I am sure that number will only increase as time passes.

Thanks for the reassurances, that's what I thought but since I got burned once buying a thumb drive on ebay, that nagging feeling was there...
