Mixing metaphors

1) the right hand at Viacom doesn't know what the left hand is doing

2) they are cutting their own throats

This whole charade is driving people away from the traditional distribution channels. It is slow but very earnest suicide. And it is completely, totally, self-propelled by Viacom and its content provider partner blackmailers.

I agree. This move did nothing but encourage DirecTV subscribers (and any other morons who watch Viacom stations) to find that content by "other means" for free. And now that they have, just how motivated do you think they will be to pay for it again?

yep they found out the hard way. Take away the legal means and people find the less than legal means.

When companies pull the kind of stunt that Viacom did I often wonder if they remember a little history event called prohibition... people found ways to get their "content" then too.
