USPS tracking on Amazon?

I've got Amazon saying my product arrived in my town early this morning but the USPS site still says Electronic shipping info received.. So whose story should I believe?

USPS site is only correct when it finally reports that the item was delivered. This will be reported 3 days after you receive the package.

If it was shipped USPS, you will only know it's arrived when it arrives.

I've actually had packages ARRIVE via USPS before their web site even updated that they had them out for delivery.
The USPS is so far behind current technology that it's no wonder they're failing.

I think the mailman (or woman) updates the status at the end of their shift, potentially many hours after it's been "delivered".

That is correct. When I was a mail carrier we would scan the item when delivered. At the end of the day we would set the scanner in the holder, and then it would upload the information. I had to carry and pick up drop boxes so my day might not end until 7 pm hours after I delivered a package.

It has always been useless and is not really a tracker as you can't really track your package.

If it's being shipped by Fedex SmartPost (or UPS Mail Innovations, or DHL Global Mail) you can probably believe both stories.
Fedex handles the shipping to your local post office, the post office delivers the package to your door. So it could be in your town without USPS having it scanned in to their system.

Once the post office has scanned it in, you should see something like this on the USPS "tracking" page:

Maybe the USPS shouldn't call it "track"ing then:

I'm not sure why Amazon would ship something computer related via USPS (CPU) I'm still waiting I would of did saturday delivery but with the rate going to $8.99/item I decided no need to rush.
