Cisco DPC 3825 told me SOL

I have a Cisco DPC 3825 and my ISP (suddenlink) ran a update last night and it no longer works or connects. I think the modem is actually fine.

Anyway I talked to Cisco and they told me to talk to my ISP. My ISP doesn't do any updates etc to this modem. So the Cisco rep pretty much told me this is trash now.

WOW! What a business model. Running a company like this will let the ISP's select the winners and losers in the modem game.

Never again will I buy Cisco.

Maybe next time consider the "real" Cisco equipment instead of "ex-Linksys" one for reliability?

Real Cisco, No Real Cisco it makes no difference... When a cable modem is involved with an ISP, they would be controlling the device. I know this to be true by RR, Cox, Comcast, and many others. That's why you'd get their modem, and set it to bridge mode and put your Cisco flavored Router in front of it...

Was the DPC3825 issued by the ISP?

Generally speaking, ISPs issue a CYA in the form of "any equipment not authorized by us will not be supported by us."

Also, I'm thinking not the entire story is being told with your call to Cisco. Is the DPC still under warranty?
What did you tell the agent? Etc. Just like everything else, if the company even gets an inkling of mis/ab/use
leading to the equipment dying, they're FULLY within their rights to refuse warranty / service.

Just my 00000010bits.
