All the handy functionalities are packed into a compact setup file of only 3MB. Download SlimBrowser now and see for yourself what makes it the best web browser for Windows.

• UNIQUE and INNOVATIVE new feature: Photo-Salon
It allows you to add beautiful photo frames and other enhancement effects to your photos right before you upload them. It also automatically shrink photos to web-optimized resolution to dramatically reduce upload time. Very easy to use and it won't affect your original photos. Works with any websites. Find out more about this feature here.
• The old autologin feature has been replaced with the new form filler feature under the "Quick Fill" menu. Autologin files will be upgraded into saved form files.
• Renamed "Links Bar" into "Favorites Bar". The old "Favorites Bar" is now called "All Favorites".
• Added option to ignore https sites in download manager options.
• Added menu tools:reset all settings.
• Bug fix: double clicking ftp folder in a ftp folder view opens the ftp folder in an external explorer window.
• Feature change: The entire browser window is now hidden when the browser is locked.
• Added paste & search into the context menu of the quicksearch box.
• Ctrl key for the purpose of new tab activation toggling now affects only sites opened from existing tabs by middle-clicking, shift+clicking or selecting the menu "Open In New Tab".
• Now you can use delete key to delete a single entry from the drop down list of the address bar.
• Bug fix: Tab bar height wasn't adjusted properly when the bar is using multi-line mode while resizing the main window.
• Reduced the time to close a group of tabs.
• Bug fix: website with title including special characters such as apostrophe messes up the quickdial settings.
• Added support to download all the links from the current web page. Accessible from the in-page context menu ""Download all with download manager" and from the toolbar on the download manager.
• The folder to save pictures is now remembered across browsing sessions.
• Added "Window->Restore All/Maximize All" to the Window menu.
• Added site-dependent zoom settings. If you set a specific zoom setting on a web page, next time you come to the same domain, the same zoom setting will be applied.
• Added support to import firefox bookmarks in one click (Favorites->Manage Favorites->Import Firefox Bookmarks).
• Added option to easily disable the securty alert when browsing pages with both http and https content.
• Reduced startup time when skin is enabled.
• Skin selection dialog has been changed into a menu list.
• Add support to restore popup window by openning blocked url directly. Now we have two ways to restore popup windows. The old way is allow popups temporarily and refresh the current page (Allow Popup and Reload).
• The new way will restore the blocked popup window by opening its URL directly. The new way is more useful in cases where refreshing the current page will cause either loss of data or session information.
• Added support to delete individual items from the history view.
• Changed domain autocompletion options. Added checkbox to enable/disable each of them individually. Check tools:options:address

See the Detailed changed log.

Thank you, chachazz See Profile for bringing attention to it. I've downloaded portable (zip) version to try.

It's based on IE rendering engine. It keeps IE's context menu (which is good for me, because I put and use a lot of custom items there). But it could be slow (for the same reason - it's IE). I'll see how it runs...

So far, what I see is:

It keeps all settings within its main folder. In registry it adds (despite it pretend to be "portable") this key with values inside:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\FlashPeak\SlimBrowser]

and adds this value into policies:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\FeatureControl\FEATURE_GPU_RENDERING]
"sbrender.exe"=dword:0

Cons:
1) it has borders that are way too thick (while offering narrow title bar, where important information is).
2) there is no "smart" switching between tabs (as IE7, e.g, offers)

For those, who want to run it with Proxomitron or similar proxy filters, it takes proxy settings from IE.

Here is more things I've discovered while trying to use it a bit:
• The good news is it's possible to get rid of its fat borders and to return to more functional and standard borders and title bar. Go to Menu | View | Skins and check Disable Skin.
• They put tracking links (XSS vulnerability) in almost all search links. All your Google searches are watched now by search.flashpeak.com, and www.slimb.com now tracks all your searches with Aks.com, ebay.com, mysearch.myway.com, www.amazon.com... You have to remove/fix them manually to avoid spying on you
• They have broken menu navigation with keyboard. Try to open applying right arrow key Menu | Tools | Popup Blocker. You can't use right arrow here and now you have to press Enter instead. [rant]Amateurs... who don't know and appreciate, what was done by their predecessors, who rush to trash and rewrite already well working code...[/rant]
• Hover cursor over main menu, for example Tool item. Then press Alt+F to open File menu. You'll see it's broken too.
• Many applications (including IE, BTW) to open browser in full screen mode use Alt+Enter key. Obviously they did not noticed that and implemented less common (and therefore less convenient) F11.

With those broken features and adding the tracking links (and what else to be discovered) offered by the program, it becomes less and less attractive (comparing to basic IE) the more I use it... Is there any reason why I should prefer it to IE?

It's great to take an interest and look this browser over.
It's well received here in the past.

And IE has never had any bugs?

Such a critique should go to the developer - it can help improve the product: »www.slimbrowser.net/en/contactus.htm

F11 is used by Firefox for full screen -it's very convenient - it's not 'uncommon'.
