 | [Free] Syncing software - Ideally when idle I'm after some syncing software to keep my laptop in sync with my server.
Ideally, I'd like the software run when my laptop is idle, otherwise it'll cause a slowdown (quite a few files and some very big).
Does anyone know of anything?
Alternatively, what is the most lightweight and efficient sync software that I could run manually on demand, or on a schedule?
I've looked at the likes of SyncToy, FreeFileSync, Cobian etc, but what in general do people think is the best? |

| The "best" is very generic..All 3 you mentioned are good...why not try them out individually and see what you like about them/dislike until you feel comfortable with one of them... Another one to consider is...[link]...

I use it to backup/sync three Win7 machines to my Windows Home Server (belt and suspenders) and it has worked reliably for me for years. It can be scheduled to run whenever you want and you can choose which directories/files it backs up. |

 | reply to art22gg I 'was' using allwaysync, but I'd keep hitting limitations of personal use so would stop me syncing.
I've had a play with the options mentioned and so far, I'm liking FreeFileSync with Task Scheduler, especially now I've enabled logging, so I can see what it's doing.
Thanks for the pointers! |
