juicem2 join:2006-03-05 Mastic Beach, NY | used phone? If I were to buy a used galaxy s3 off craigslist in a few months to replace my T-Bolt would I still keep my unlimited data? I would think so but I am not sure. I am not buying a phone from Vz at a discount. If that is the case I may do that from now on. I would like to stay with them and keep my unlimited. I just drove from Long Island, NY to Virginia and only came off LTE once the whole trip(for about 10 minutes)! I am using wireless tether here at the resort and I am rocking anywhere from 20-27 megs down and 4-7 megs up. The resort has att wifi for free but is only good for 1.5 megs down. Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks. Mike |

The press release stated that users could keep the grandfathered plan if, rather than getting a subsidized phone, they pay full price. They didn't specifically mention activating a used phone, and I think that was on purpose. -- Intel i7-2600k /ASRock P67 Extreme4 /4x 4Gb G.Skill /2x Intel 510 series 250Gb SSD /3x WD20EADS 2TB /2x PNY GTX 260 /Silverstone 850W /Custom water cooler /Antec Twelve-Hundred |

| Actually I read on another site that Verizon already has that option locked out. That If you wanted to keep your unlimited you MUST purchase the new phone from THEM at FULL retail price. Used phones would be treated as phones you were swapping around from account to account which means it looses unlimited. This was done to make sure you purchase the new phone from them and feed there pig, and prices for used phones on Craiglist etc. will be diminished. |

juicem2 join:2006-03-05 Mastic Beach, NY | reply to buddahbless I would switch to sprint to still have unlimited but.... no one comes close to Verizon in coverage especially LTE. Sprint hasn't even launched LTE yet. Those greedy Verizon pigs are the best and they know it. |

I wouldn't be surprised if that is eventually the case. But..... and this may be the only time I ever sing Verizon's praises.....I went to them last week, after the "shared data" plan was announced, and was able to not only keep my unlimited data on both lines, AND get new phones at the discounted contract price, but they even let me do it 42 days early. If they had made me wait until my upgrade date, I wouldn't have made the cut off. |

NOW NOW NOW, then you're stuck with that crappy Verizon SERVICE.
This is the drug that I preach about all the time. Verizon may be greedy pigs, but those who continue to use them are the drug crazed creeps who enable them.
I'd rather give my business to Sprint who's already demonstrated to the people they wanted to bring the "innovative new plans" that people wanted. If people would give Sprint, who's clearly TRYING, unlike the others, to bring to people want they want AND people would buy it, then Sprint PROBABLY would back off on some of THEIR inching the good out of their own plans. But, the fact Sprint is doing what they're doing is a sign that they need to increase revenue as they're not gaining fast enough in subscribers.
Maybe it's time to go with Sprint, give them the business and see where it ends up. Sprint has at least demonstrated they're wanting to give the consumers what they want.. now the consumers need to come take it. Verizon has CLEARLY showed it's hand, and it's not good. This "we're giving you the family share plans that you want" is a HORRIBLE price increase unlike anyone has EVER seen before... and I'm sure people will continue to say "but their coverage is good"..
.. Verizon can piss off their good coverage all they want. It's only a matter of time before the others catch up. |
