Windows Update Agent v7.6.7600.256 for 64-bit W7 HPE. I assume they're related to each other. -- Ant @ »antfarm.ma.cx and »aqfl.net. Please do not IM/e-mail me for technical support. Use the forum! | I did not get that today, but I already had the update for Windows Update Agent, so that is probably why I did not get that. I checked Windows Update using IE8 in XP SP3 and got no updates, either critical or optional. -- It is easier for a camel to put on a bikini than an old man to thread a needle. |

I run Microsoft/Windows update manually (on 'patch Tues', and also just for the heck of it sometimes when I'm bored). At any rate, yes, my Microsoft Update updated to a new version of Microsoft Update. (Weird, eh? Updating yourself so you can continue updating?) lol. Today was the first time I ran it at all since June 'patch Tues' (yeah, one of those 'bored' times), and both my XP and Win7 machines decided it was time for an update. (Haven't played around with the Vista Laptop since Patch Tues, but if I run it, I expect the same thing to happen. Sorry for the long winded post....just an update for your benefit. Oops...update! I just read the other thread, which I should have done to begin with. Oh well. Now we're all updated on the threads, as well as the updates on the updated updater, as far as I can tell. Aw...never mind. -- I had a life once.....now I have a Computer and a Modem. |

| reply to antdude As I recall, the rollout of the Windows Update Agent update was supposed to be staggered so that everyone did not get it at the same time. Other than that, I know only that on the three Win 7 Pro 64-bit systems I check regularly, none needed any update today. All have the Windows Update Agent update installed, already. -- It is easier for a camel to put on a bikini than an old man to thread a needle. |

| That is weird. It sounds like something unique to your system. Did it finally get installed successfully? Was there anything in the event logs that would give a clue as to what happened? That's sort of rhetorical, because I find lots of things that fail and the event logs don't show any reason and often not even an entry. -- It is easier for a camel to put on a bikini than an old man to thread a needle. |
