Does it matter?

Half the stuff I bother to watch anymore are downloaded by my DVR via RSS feeds. At the same time OTA is now in HD with lots of untapped room to broadcast more content than ever.

Yet the cable monopolies continue full steam ahead with absurd rate hikes.

DOJ just sit back and enjoy the show... it won't even matter before too long.

They were granted those franchises by the government, now without the benefit of monopoly protection. No one is preventing a 3rd party company from overbuilding in a given town.

The rate hikes stem from the content owners' ability to require bundling, not the cable industry.
