Re: Quick! - Sheet sander or Orbital Sander - Repainting walls The water filter is laughably simple -- I wound up with mine because they had it at Home Depot and it looked useful.
The way the water filter works is that you have an airtight bucket with the two hose fittings through the lid. Inside, one fitting connects to a short length of hose that ends about 2" from the bottom of the bucket. The other one doesn't have an extension and is just open below the lid.
Fill the bucket half way or so, maybe 2/3, with water and connect the fitting with the extension inside to the sheet sander. Attach the fitting that ends just under the lid to the vacuum. Running the vacuum will cause the air drawn from the screen to bubble through the water, catching what seemed to be 75-90% of the dust. The bottom of the bucket will catch a LOT of the dust as sludge.
Honestly, I'd homebrew the thing if I didn't already have one. Not a bit of dust came out of the vacuum's outlet and even very little was caught (some, not none) by its filter. Definitely worth it. |
